3.8-magnitude quake nudges Ilocos Norte town, nearby province

LAOAG CITY-A 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck Pasuquin town in Ilocos Norte late on Wednesday (Jan. 27), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The quake struck at 9:07 p.m. about 10 kilometers southwest of Pasuquin with a depth of 27 km.

Phivolcs said that the tremor was of tectonic origin.

It said that the earthquake was also felt in other areas in Ilocos Norte and nearby province of Ilocos Sur at various intensities:

Intensity 4- Paoay, Ilocos Norte
Intensity 2-Sinait, Ilocos Sur
Intensity I – Vigan City

Phivolcs said the temblor is not likely to cause damage and aftershocks may not occur.
