MANILA, Philippines — The spokesperson of Vice President Leni Robredo has asked pro-administration blogger and Overseas Workers Welfare Association Deputy Executive Director Mocha Uson to spare their office from her silliness.
According to a short statement from lawyer Barry Gutierrez on Friday, Uson should not pull the Office of the Vice President into her issues — after the former singer and dancer said she had been the target of recent rumors because Robredo’s rankings were not high in latest surveys.
“Huwag nga niya kaming idamay sa kalokohan niya,” Gutierrez said.
(She shouldn’t drag us into her nonsense.)
Rumors circulated online that Uson was allegedly pregnant and actor Robin Padilla was the alleged father. Uson and Padilla were known avid supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Uson has debunked the rumor via a workout video she posted on social media showing her flat tummy. She also said it is embarrassing because Padilla, who is married to celebrity host Mariel Rodriguez, is a good person.
“BUNTIS DAW AKO KAY ROBIN? Wala pong katotohanan ‘yang tsismis na ‘yan. Napakabait po nung tao,” Uson said in a Facebook post. “Sigurado ako ang nagpapakalat niyan ay ‘yung mga bitter sa ating gobyerno.”
(They say I am pregnant with Robin’s child? There’s no truth to that gossip. The man is a good person. I am sure that those who started these rumors are only bitter against the government.)
“Alam ng lahat na ako at si sir Robin ay masugid na supporter ni Pangulong Duterte kaya nalang sinisiraan kami. Kulelat kasi sa survey ang pambato nilang si Robredo kaya kung anu-ano paninira ang iniimbento nila,” she added.
(Everybody knows that we are staunch supporters of President Duterte, so maybe that’s why we are being targeted. This mudslinging only occurred because their bet, Robredo, flunked in the surveys.)
Rodriguez has laughed off the rumors.
