Youth councilor in Romblon village nabbed in drug bust

CITY OF CALAPAN –– A village Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councilor was arrested in a drug sting in Odiongan town, Romblon province, on Thursday, Jan. 21, authorities said.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives and the town police arrested Johnder Montesa, 23, in Barangay Ligaya of the town, where he is a councilor of the youth organization.

Montesa was caught allegedly in possession of two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets, which together weighed about one gram of dried marijuana leaves, during a buy-bust operation at 1:15 p.m., according to a report from the PDEA in Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan).

PDEA-Mimaropa said it was readying a case for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 against the youth leader.
