To augment the lack of traffic enforcers in Metro Manila’s major thoroughfares, the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) has pledged to provide 180 personnel to man the traffic along Edsa and Commonwealth Avenue. On Monday, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chair Benhur Abalos sought assistance from Police Lt. Col. Joshua Alejandro, head of the PNP-HPG in the National Capital Region, to improve the visibility of traffic personnel on Metro Manila’s major thoroughfares. Abalos said the MMDA would hire more traffic enforcers in the next three months. It currently has 2,187 traffic enforcers. —Mariejo S. Ramos
