MANILA, Philippines — Two police personnel from the Eastern Police District (EPD) were relieved after they were found positive for drug use, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Tuesday.
In a statement, PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas identified the uniformed personnel as Patrolman Arnel Agustin, of the District Human Resource and Doctrine Development Office; and Police Corporal Regie Alilano, who is a beat patroller at Pasig Police Sub Station 6.
Sinas said the two lawmen tested positive for shabu or crystal meth after the EPD conducted a random drug test among 76 personnel on Jan. 13.
“A random drug test administered to 76 personnel of EPD last January 13, 2021, screened and confirmed traces of Methamphetamine in the urine specimen of Pat Arnel Agustin of the District Human Resource and Doctrine Development Office; and Police Corporal Regie M. Alilano assigned at Pasig CPS Sub Station 6 as Beat Patroller,” said Sinas.
The PNP chief also announced that Alilano and Agustin were disarmed and placed under restrictive custody as they undertake pre-charge investigation and summary dismissal proceedings.
