Earthquake shakes Batangas
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck Batangas on Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The earthquake was recorded at 6:48 a.m. some five kilometers southwest of Calatagan town.
Phivolcs said that the earthquake was of tectonic origin, and had a 135-kilometer depth of focus.
Phivolcs earlier measured the earthquake at magnitude 4.5. It was later upgraded to magnitude 4.8.
State seismologists said that the earthquake was also felt at Instrumental Intensity I in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro and Plaridel, Bulacan.
No aftershocks or damage to infrastructure were expected from the earthquake, Phivolcs said.
