UV aims for finals slot in NBTC hoop

THE UNIVERSITY of the Visayas Baby Lancers will try to see if they can keep their good fortunes going today as they aim for a slot in the finals in the Seaoil NBTC Elite League when they go up against the Cebu Eastern College Dragons in the semifinals today at the City Sports Club Cebu basketball court.

Gametime for today’s crucial match is set at 4 p.m. with the Baby Lancers excited to play, especially after their morale-boosting championship win in the SBP Under-16 National Basketball Championship tournament last weekend in Baguio City.

However, the Dragons of head coach Jerry Jaranilla aim to spoil UV’s party with a dangerous crew headed by veteran center Lyle Sumayang, Alfred Sedillo and Marvin Bauya.  UV will once again rely on  Paul Desiderio, the Cesafi’s reigning juniors MVP.

The winner of this match will go on to face the defending champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles, which clinched  a slot to the finals when they upended the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Baby Panthers, 79-61, in the other semis pairing.
