Man gunned down in front of LTO office in Laguna

SAN PEDRO CITY –– A man was shot dead in front of the Land Transportation Office in this city on Friday morning.

Manolito Escudero, 61, whose family owns a known funeral home in San Pedro, was in front of the government office, located at the Atienza Compound in Barangay Nueva, when the gunman “approached” him at 8:40 a.m. and shot him twice in the head.

Lieutenant Colonel Jesus Lintag, the city police chief, said in an initial report, that Escudero died on the spot.

A source in the Laguna police said Escudero was allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade, to which Lintag declined to comment by saying this information was still being verified.

Laguna police spokesperson Lieutenant Colone Chitadel Gaoiran, said in a text message, that they were still checking if the victim had any previous case related to illegal drugs.
