NTC tops 2020 collection target by over P2.68B
MANILA, Philippines — The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) on Thursday said it has exceeded its collection target for 2020 by over P2.68 billion.
The NTC, an agency under the Department of Information and Communications Technology, said its target collection for 2020 was P5.025 billion and the agency collected a total of P7.711 billion which is 53.44% higher than the target collection.
This was the fifth straight year the NTC exceeded its collection goal.
The NTC said the achievement was a “culmination of its personnel’s concerted effort to strictly enforce stakeholders’ compliance in remitting users’ fees, supervision and regulation fees, and penalties.”
NTC is the agency that regulates cable and commercial television operators, broadcast radio stations, telecommunications companies, and commercial and portable radio operators.
Its collection goals are reflected in the Budget of Expenditure and Sources of Financing, a document mandated by the Constitution and consolidated by the Department of Budget Management.
