Duterte lauds DPWH’s Villar for ‘total revamp’ in agency
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday congratulated Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar for the “total revamp” within the agency.
“I’d like to congratulate Secretary Villar for initiating a total revamp sa DPWH and there will be more to come,” Duterte said during the inauguration of the Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3. Villar was present at the event.
“Did I not tell you a little about a few days ago o months that I will dedicate the remaining years of my mayorship dito sa corruption? Talagang upakan ko kayo,” he added.
Fourteen DPWH personnel were relieved from service due to alleged involvement in corruption, Villar said last week.
The President recently ordered the relief of several DPWH district engineers for their supposedly conniving with some congressmen in corrupt practices.
