14 DPWH personnel relieved due to alleged corruption — Villar
MANILA, Philippines — At least 14 personnel of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have so far been relieved from service due to alleged involvement in corruption, Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said Thursday.
In a televised Laging Handa Public Briefing, Villar said they are seeking the help of other government agencies to help build cases against the erring DPWH personnel.
“Mga labing apat na ang narelieve. Meron kaming ongoing complaints sa aming task force against corruption at humihingi din kami ng tulong sa ibang ahensya para magkaroon ng case build-up,” he said.
President Rodrigo Duterte recently ordered the immediate relief of several DPWH district engineers for their supposed involvement in the corrupt practices of some lawmakers.
Villar said the engineers cited by the President have been dismissed. He also announced that a reorganization will soon be implemented within the DPWH.
