LGUs told to prepare master list of vaccine recipients, vaccination centers
MANILA, Philippines — With the arrival of Covid-19 vaccines seen next month, local government units (LGUs) were advised to prepare the list of vaccine recipients in their respective jurisdictions and determine the vaccination centers.
Talks are already ongoing with LGUs to prepare for the rollout of the country’s vaccination program, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said Wednesday.
“Ang sinasabi nga natin ang mga LGUs, being the grass root implementer ng vaccination, kailangan po magkaroon sila ng early preparation,” Galvez said in a televised briefing.
(We’re telling LGUs, being the grass root implementer of the vaccination, they need to have early preparation.)
“So inalam po namin at binigay po namin sa kanila yung mga areas na kailangan nila i-prepare katulad ng pag-prepare ng master list ng mga mavavaccinate at master list ng mga vaccination centers,” he added.
(We gave them the areas they need to prepare like the master list of people to vaccinate and the master list of vaccination centers.)
The Philippines is eyeing to administer the first vaccine shots of Covid-19 by the end of February.
This, after the national government secured vaccines from China’s Sinovac, the Serum Institute of India, and AstraZeneca.
Several LGUs have also announced inking deals to procure vaccines developed by AstraZeneca.
