Urine samples taken from Dacera’s body; results out in a few days – Guevarra

MANILA, Philippines — Urine samples were taken from the body of Christine Dacera who died after a New Year’s party in a Makati hotel, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said on Tuesday.

Guevarra said in a message to reporters that he was informed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) that 100 milliliters of urine were extracted from the flight attendant’s body, results of which may be out in a few days’ time.

“I was informed that the NBI was able to extract about 100 ml of urine from the subject’s body.  It could provide a lot of information to the forensic team,” the Department of Justice (DOJ) chief said.

“The results of the laboratory examination may come out in a few days,” he added.

Mystery surrounded Dacera’s death after police initially claimed the flight attendant was a victim of a rape-slay, contrary to autopsy reports showing she died of an aneurysm.

Police then tagged Dacera’s companions in the Makati hotel as suspects, even if they insisted on being innocent and gays.

While questions cropped up over Dacera’s death, authorities confirmed that she was last seen alive at around 6:20 a.m. along the corridor of the hotel.

Witnesses claimed that Dacera preferred to lie on the dry bathtub. She was given a blanket around 10 a.m. However, the hotel staffers received a distress call at 12:25 p.m. after Dacera was found unconscious in the same bathtub.

She was then rushed to the Makati Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival. [ac]
