1 million doses of AstraZeneca COVID vaccine for Makatizens — Mayor Abby
MANILA, Philippines — Makati City will purchase one million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from British-Swedish pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca.
Mayor Abby Binay on Monday announced that she signed a tripartite agreement on Sunday with AstraZeneca and the national government for the procurement of the vaccines.
“We intend to vaccinate all Makatizens, including real property owners, business owners, and non-registered voters who reside in the city. We want them to be safe from the virus, and we are aiming for 100% vaccination in the city,” she said.
Binay added that the city government, together with medical experts on infectious diseases and vaccination, will also launch an information campaign to ensure that the questions and concerns of its constituents on the vaccines are adequately addressed.
She said Makati City will launch an online registration portal for the COVID-19 vaccination drive in the coming weeks.
