CABANATUAN CITY – A 32-unit molecular laboratory, aimed at strengthening the city’s response against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is expected to be operational by late March or early April this year, a ranking official said on Saturday.
Vice Mayor Julius Cesar Vergara said the construction of the RT-PCR (Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) Laboratory at MV Gallego Cabanatuan City General Hospital here.
The facility was officially started by Roche Philippines in December and would be completed within 102 working days.
Vergara said the P23-million locally-funded facility has mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration components.
Rep. Rosanna Vergara of Nueva Ecija’s third district said the establishment of the local molecular laboratory was in response to the need for continuous expanded targeted testing by the city government.
