MANILA, Philippines — Pasay City’s local government unit has inspected hotels within the city to ensure that these follow the minimum health standards set by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano visited several hotels in the city on Friday, reminding hotel managements and people staying in quarantine alike that hotels designated as quarantine facilities should only allow people doing quarantine, and not their relatives.
“Pagka dineclare ng Department of Tourism ang isang hotel as quarantine or isolation area, kailangan no staycation, at yo’on lang ang pwedeng pumunta while waiting for their results,” Calixto-Rubiano told reporters.
(If the Department of Tourism declared a hotel a quarantine or isolation area, they can not allow staycations and only those who are waiting for their results are allowed to go there.)
“Tapos po syempre gusto ko ring i-ensure ‘yong capacity nila, na ‘yon lang talaga ang tinatanggap nila and they must have a permit coming from the Department of Tourism,” she added.
(And of course, we also want to ensure that they are only allowing people within their capacity, and they must have a permit from the Department of Tourism.)
The local executive admitted that her move to inspect the hotels came after the death of flight attendant Christine Dacera.
“I want to make sure na walang staycation sa mga hotels na ito, iniinspect ko ‘yong hotels kasi ‘don sa mga nangyayaring balita katulad no’ng ating flight stewardess, at ‘yong meron ding mga nangyayaring iba,” Calixto-Rubiano said.
(I want to make sure that there is no staycation happening in these hotels, as we inspect these hotels because of what happened recently with the flight stewardess, and other issues that have emerged.) [ac]
