A baby who contracted COVID-19 just nine days after his birth in Spain last October has finally recovered from the disease.
Little Petru caught the coronavirus from his older brother, who was asymptomatic at the time, as per the Euro Weekly News on Jan. 7.
As the baby’s condition began to worsen, his parents, Cristina and José, rushed him to the Vithas Valencia 9 de Octubre’s pediatric emergency department. When the staff confirmed that Petru had contracted COVID-19, they immediately placed him in an intensive care unit.
After 70 long days in the hospital, Petru finally tested negative for the virus and was allowed to reunite with his family. Following the good news, staff bid him goodbye with applause, as seen on the hospital’s Twitter page earlier today, Jan. 8.
