MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday said it will not be affected by the speculations of social media users regarding the tragic death of flight attendant Christine Angelica Dacera.

“They [PNP] are not supposed to be carried away by any reactions from the people. Kasi they [netizens] are not there doing the investigation. We leave it to authorities. We leave it to investigators,” said PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana over a phone interview with INQUIRER.net, reacting to information that surfaced on social media which doubted police reports on Dacera’s rape-slay case.

“Ang importante ay iyong hustisya po para sa biktima,” Usana added.

Earlier, the PNP also explained that the rape-slay case was considered solved because suspects were already identified.

“They already filed the inquest case. Indeed it is considered solved po with at least three of the accused already put into custody by the police,” said Usana.

Eleven suspects, who were victims’ companions at the hotel, are facing complaints of rape with homicide before the Makati prosecutor’s office. Three of the suspects are already under police custody while eight remain at-large.

Dacera, 23, was found unconscious in an empty bathtub in a hotel in Makati City where she celebrated New Year’s eve with her friends. She later died at a hospital.
