ZAMBOANGA CITY—Fire razed a warehouse owned by a shipping company on a commercial street here early on Sunday (Jan. 3).

Chief Insp. Jacqueline Ortega, city fire marshal, said at least P2 million in damage was caused by the fire in the warehouse belonging to Aleson Shipping Lines on Veterans Avenue.

Lawyer Jose Tan, owner, said the warehouse stored essential goods like noodles, rice, sugar, oil and ship parts.

The fire reached the second alarm and took more than an hour to put out.

At least 88 of the fires involved structures that caused more than P50 million in damage, Ortega said.
