QCPD starts probe into killing of former cop
MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District has started its probe into the killing of a former police officer on Saturday, Brig. Gen. Danilo Macerin, QCPD chief said in a statement issued on Sunday.
The 60-year-old victim, Rodolfo Aspril, and his companion were attacked as they were making their way home on a motorcycle on the southbound side of Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay Old Balara at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday.
There were three masked assailants on motorcycles, who had been following them, according to Macerin.
The former police officer’s companion contacted the Batasan police, who sent officers to the crime scene where they found eight spent cartridge cases and a deformed slug fired from a .45-caliber firearm.
Macerin said the case had been referred to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) under Maj. Elmer Monsalve.
Macerin is urging anyone who has information that may shed light on the killing to contact the QCPD.
