LEGAZPI CITY — A 48-year-old man who was initially reported missing was found dead and floating in the waters off Garchitorena, Camarines Sur Saturday afternoon.
Police Staff Sergeant Jimijon Salamanque, investigator on case of the Garchitorena police, said the body of Edwin Ceciliano was found in the waters of Barangay Dangla at around 4:15 p.m.
It was earlier reported that Ceciliano, while on his way home in Barangay Bahi, crossed a concrete bridge but lost his balance and fell into the Ason River at around 2 p.m. on Thursday.
He was swept away by the strong current and drowned, Salamanque said.
The intermittent heavy rain which had been pouring since New Year’s Eve spawned by tail-end of a frontal system caused the river to overflow.
Salamanque said the local authorities reported no other missing persons in the said town.
