Landslide blocks road in CamSur town

LEGAZPI CITY – Heavy rains that have been pouring since New Year’s Eve over Bicol triggered a landslide that made roads in Sagñay town in Camarines Sur impassable on Saturday.

Sagñay police said soil and rocks loosened by the incessant rain spawned by the tail-end of a frontal system since Thursday, December 31, cascaded down the Sagñay-Tiwi road in Sitio (sub-village) Sitenta y Dos in Barangay (village) Patitinan.

A report said the clearing operations were so interrupted by the continuous falling of rocks and a landslide, that officials decided to temporarily barricade the debris-covered road.

The clearing operations will resume on Sunday.

Sagñay police said there were no houses in the area affected by the landslide.
