MANILA, Philippines — An 18-year-old man in Manila may have learned his lesson the hard way after he met a fellow “Mobile Legends” player at a computer shop, and later stole the former’s phone and bike.
A report from the Sta. Ana police showed that 20-year-old Iron dela Cruz was arrested on Friday morning for a case of theft after he allegedly stole a cellphone worth P6,000, a bike, and cash amounting to P2,000.
Initial investigation showed that Dela Cruz met with the victim, 18-year-old Christopher Kenneth Yrigan, to play “Mobile Legends” at a computer shop. The two later had breakfast at a nearby eatery.
Dela Cruz later borrowed Yrigan’s phone and he also borrowed the victim’s bicycle afterward. However, the suspect never came back and brought with him the victim’s cellphone and bicycle.
Police said that Yrigan then sought help from a friend to search for the suspect, where they later spotted Dela Cruz at a convenience store along Makati Avenue.
“Immediately, they grasped the suspect and recovered from his pocket the wire earphone of said cellphone,” the report read.
Dela Cruz was later brought to the hospital after the altercation, and subsequently to the Sta. Ana police station for proper investigation and disposition.
“A case of Violation of Art 308 (Theft) will be filed against the suspect before the City Prosecutor Office Manila,” police said.
