4 cases of New Year indiscriminate firing reported in Central Luzon, but no cop, soldier involved
CAMP GENERAL ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan—At least four cases of indiscriminate firing were recorded in Central Luzon during New Year revelries, authorities said.
One of the suspects, identified as Christian Velasquez, was arrested for firing his shotgun in a gasoline station in Balagtas town, Bulacan, said Col. Lawrence Cajipe, Bulacan police director.
Velasquez was allegedly drunken, Cajipe said. No one was wounded during the gun-firing.
Seized from Velasquez was an Armscor shotgun, six spent shells and ammunition. He is facing charges of alarm and scandal, among others.
Brig. Gen. Valeriano De Leon, Central Luzon regional director, said three other cases of illegal discharge of firearms involving a security guard and two civilians were reported in Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Tarlac.
In a report, De Leon said no policeman or soldier was involved in indiscriminate firing on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
