MANILA, Philippines — Six out of 149 hospitals in Metro Manila were placed under critical level in terms of bed capacity for COVID-19 patients, based on data from the Department of Health (DOH) as of December 30. This figure increased from eight hospitals recorded as “critical” last Dec. 25, consisting of 144 hospitals.

Of the hospitals under “critical” level, two have already reached 100 percent bed occupancy, the Bernardino General Hospital and Mary Chiles General Hospital Inc.

The DOH classifies occupancy levels for COVID-19 beds in health centers as either critical, high risk, moderate or safe.
