Cebu hosts water districts’ convention

MORE than 1,000 decision-makers in the water sector will gather in Cebu for the 33rd National Convention of the Philippine Association of Water Districts (PAWD) at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu City.

This gathering is significant as water districts in the country are looking forward to the government’s renewed commitment to address the issues faced by the water industry.

With the administration’s thrust to come up with a comprehensive national plan to manage water sources, there is so much to hope for.

The gathering also aims to come up with solutions to the water sector’s challenges, like stable supply, pollution and climate change.

This year’s convention theme is “Sustainable water supply and sanitation in challenging times.”

Cebu City, as host, is home to a centuries-old Basilica, the country’s oldest street Colon and the 100-year-old Buhisan Dam of the Metropolitan Cebu Water District.

Recognized by the ASEAN as a City of Culture, it now boasts of achievements in tourism, music, arts, dance, filmmaking, furniture design, architecture, animation, fashion, food and real estate development.

It is also earning the distinction of hosting international gatherings with its world-class hotels and convention venues.
