Bank tycoon distributes food packs in Toledo

TRUE to his commitment to give back to society, Metrobank Group chairman Dr. George S.K. Ty joined the last leg of the nationwide Bags of Blessing in Toledo City last Jan. 28.

Ty led the distribution of food packages to select 500 families in the city.

Toledo City is one of the recipient areas in the country for this endeavor as highlight of the company’s celebration of the 2012 Chinese New Year.

Metrobank Group has donated a total of P10 million worth of food packages to benefit 10,000 underprivileged Filipino families under the “National Household Targeting System” of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

It aims to support the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, including assistance to victims of natural calamities in the previous year.

The project is in collaboration with subsidiaries and affiliates of the Metrobank Group composed of the GT-Metro-Foundation, Metrobank Foundation Inc., Global Business Power, Federal Land Inc. and participating Metrobank branches in the regions, and in cooperation with the city government of Toledo, Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

“This humble contribution is a reflection of our gratitude to our country and its people,” said Ty.

“The charities and public services are also a reminder that our hard work, thriftiness and discipline is not only for the sake of profits, but also to share with others and the whole community,” he added.

The distribution was graced by Mayor Rudy Espinosa, Vice Mayor Arlene Zambo and DSWD representatives.

The Bags of Blessing also assisted families from the cities of Manila, Pasig, Marikina, Quezon, Pasay, and Makati and other regional sites such as Meycauayan City in Bulacan, Batangas City, Santiago City and Cauayan City in Isabela, Dagupan City, Iloilo City, Cebu City, Tacloban City, Bacolod City, San Jose town in Antique, Davao City, Zamboanga City and Butuan City.
