MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit Line 2 is offering free rides at certain hours on Wednesday, Dec. 30, as the country commemorates the 124th martyrdom of its national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal.

The Light Rail Transit Authority said commuters can ride for free from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. after earlier offering free rides from 7a.m. to 9 a.m.

Malacañang has declared December 30 as a regular holiday to mark the anniversary of Rizal’s execution in Manila in 1986.
