DOT: Don’t use quarantine hotels for staycation

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Tourism (DOT) has reiterated its warning to DOT-accredited hotels currently used as quarantines to refrain from accepting guests for staycation.

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said the DOT had received reports that some quarantine hotels had admitted guests for leisure purposes.

“This is not acceptable and should not be tolerated. Our guidelines explicitly prohibit the use of quarantine hotels for staycation purposes and vice versa,” Puyat said.

“We call on owners and operators of these accommodation establishments to be more vigilant and strict about these protocols,” she added.

Quarantine hotels are likewise barred from operating their ancillary establishments such as spas, bars and gyms.
