LUCENA CITY – Two suspected New Peoples Army (NPA) rebels were arrested in Atimonan, Quezon province on Saturday, police said Sunday.
Police Colonel Audie Madrideo, Quezon provincial police chief, identified the suspects as Ruel Custodio, 34, and Ruben Istokado, 38.
The local police and Philippine Army troops, armed with arrest warrants, collared the suspects in their safehouse in Barangay Zone 3 Poblacion at around 3:30 p. m.
Seized from the suspects were two handguns, a hand grenade and ammunition. The duo did not resist arrest.
Report tagged Custodio as an alleged “revolutionary tax” collector in Quezon was also charged with kidnapping and illegal possession of firearms in 2019.
Istokado, reportedly an NPA recruiter and propagandist, was also charged with double murder and multiple murder in 2014.
They are under police custody while appropriate charged are being readied.
