MANILA, Philippines — Former San Juan City mayor Guia Gomez has recovered from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In an Instagram post, her son, former senator JV Ejercito said Gomez is set to return home on Saturday, December 26.
“It may not be the usual best time of the year, nor the best birthday celebration, but one of the best gifts was given to me because it was an answered prayer,” Ejercito, who is celebrating his birthday today, said in the post.
“My mother is finally going home today and has survived COVID,” the former senator added.
Ejercito also confirmed her mother’s recovery from COVID-19 in a phone interview with INQUIRER.net.
As of December 25, there are 467,601 COVID-19 cases in the Philippines — of which 27,748 remain active.
Meanwhile, 430,791 have recovered from the disease while the death toll stands at 9,062.
