Duterte to veto items in 2021 budget — Palace
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte will use his veto power on certain items in the P4.5-trillion 2021 national budget, his spokesman Harry Roque said Friday.
Roque, however, did not identify which items will be vetoed by the President.
“Sigurado po na magkakaroon ng veto message pero I’m not at liberty to discuss po kung ano itong mga items na ito,” Roque told reporters.
(There will surely be a veto message but I’m not at liberty to discuss which items will be vetoed.)
Duterte is set to sign the national budget for 2021 on Monday before a few members of both houses of Congress.
The 2021 budget includes P72.5-billion allocation for COVID-19 vaccine purchases. It also has P1.1 trillion for infrastructure projects, which are touted to create jobs and boost economic activity after a recession year.
