COVID-19 cases in Quezon province continue to drop
LUCENA CITY –– The number of active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) carriers in Quezon province continued to decline, authorities reported Tuesday.
In its 5 p.m. bulletin on Dec. 22, the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) disclosed that the remaining virus carriers in the province have dropped to 500.
The province’s highest tally on active COVID-19 cases was 1,119 on Nov. 12. It fell to 760 by the end of November.
Lucena City, the provincial capital, is also showing a similar trend in its daily tally of active COVID-19 cases.
As of Tuesday, the city now has only 72 active virus carriers. The highest tally in the city was 279 on Oct. 21. It fell to 147 on Nov. 30.
Quezon recorded a total of 6,075 COVID-19 cases since the World Health Organization declared it a pandemic on March 11, with the addition of 16 new patients.
The province recorded 46 newly healed patients, bringing the total recoveries to 5,398. The death toll from COVID-19 in Quezon remains at 177.
At least 11 of the 41 municipalities in Quezon province no longer have any active COVID-19 cases.
The towns that are now free of COVID-19 are Jomalig, Panukulan, Patnanungan, General Luna, San Andres, San Narciso, Pitogo, Macalelon, Mulanay, Agdangan, and General Nakar.
Those previously infected in these municipalities have either recovered or died, the report said.
