ILOILO CITY—Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas joined the nationwide condemnation of the killing of a woman and her son in Tarlac by an off-duty policeman and added his voice to calls for justice for the victims.

In a statement, Trenas said he condemns “in the strongest possible terms” the killings committed by a police officer “in broad daylight.”

“Being officers of the law authorized to carry firearms, stringent measures should be put in place by the PNP leadership to ensure the safety of our civilian population,” he said in a statement.
