Trough of tropical depression to bring scattered rains in Kalayaan Islands
MANILA, Philippines — The trough or extension of a tropical depression, formerly named Vicky, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers in Kalayaan Islands this Tuesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Vicky is now outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
“Sa Kalayaan Islands, magkakaroon pa rin ng maulap na kalangitan na may kalat-kalat ng pag-ulan at pagkidlat at pagkulog na epekto pa rin ng trough ng tropical depression na nasa labas na ng ating Philippine area of responsibility,” Pagasa weather specialist Meno Mendoza said in a weather forecast issued at 4 a.m.
(In Kalayaan Islands, there will still be cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the trough of the tropical depression that is now outside the Philippine area of responsibility.)
According to Mendoza, the center of the tropical depression was last seen 415 kilometers southwest of Pagasa Island in Palawan. The weather disturbance has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph, and is moving west-southwest at 20 kph.
Meanwhile, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Kalinga, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the tail-end of a frontal system.
