TD Vicky nears Davao Oriental, Surigao Del Sur; Signal No. 1 in more areas

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 was raised over more areas in Palawan as Tropical Depression Vicky, country’s 22nd tropical cyclone, moved west-northwest towards Davao Oriental and Surigao del Sur, state weather bureau said on Friday.

In its 8 a.m. severe weather bulletin, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Vicky was last spotted at 185 kilometers east of Davao City, moving west northwest at 15 kilometers per hour (kph).

It is packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

Pagasa reiterated that Vicky will make landfall in the Davao Oriental-Surigao del Sur area in the next 12 hours.

Pagasa also raised the following areas under Signal No. 1:

  • Luzon
    • The northern and central portion of Palawan (Puerto Princesa City, Roxas, San Vicente, Dumaran, Araceli, Taytay, El Nido) including Calamian, Cuyo, and Cagayancillo Islands
  • Visayas
