1,156 new COVID-19 infections push active cases in PH to 24,873

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 1,156 new coronavirus disease infections brought the country’s total active cases to 24,873 as of Wednesday, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

Data from the DOH showed that the active cases comprise 5.5 percent of all the infections that occurred in the Philippines, which is already at 452,988.  Recoveries, on the other hand, are now at 419,282 or 92.6 percent after 425 patients beat the disease.

Unfortunately, 21 more died for a death toll of 8,833.

DOH’s COVID-19 bulletin showed that still, most of the active cases, or 84.7 percent only experience mild symptoms, while 6.7 percent are asymptomatic or did not experience any symptom.

On the other hand, 2.8 percent exhibited severe symptoms, while 5.7 percent of the active cases are under critical condition.

The bulk of the cases reported on Tuesday came from Davao City with 126, followed by Quezon City (66), Rizal province (64), Bulacan (56), and City of Manila (38).

DOH said that 1,303 of the 23,567 tests conducted on Tuesday turned out positive, although the department did not explain why not all of the cases were not included in Wednesday’s report of 1,156 new cases.
