Number of active COVID-19 cases in Quezon on the decline as 3 more patients die
LUCENA CITY –– Three more coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients died in Quezon province even as active cases continue to decline, authorities reported on Tuesday.
In its 5 p.m. report on Dec. 15, the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) listed two COVID-19 patients in Tayabas City and one from this city as the latest addition to the fatalities in the province.
The health office report did not give other details on the fatalities.
The COVID-19 death toll in Quezon now stands at 176, with 13 of them having died from Dec. 1 to 15.
Quezon, which is now under the modified general community quarantine, has been recording a continued decline of active COVID-19 cases after the dreaded illness recorded the highest tally of 1,119 on Nov. 12.
The number of active coronavirus carriers fell to 760 at the end of November and further dropped to 551 on Dec. 15.
Lucena City, the capital of the province, now has only 97 remaining active virus carriers. The highest recorded active cases in Lucena was 279 on Oct. 21 and went down to 147 on Nov. 30.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Quezon recorded a total of 5,880 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic erupted in early March, with the addition of 41 patients.
The province recorded 60 new recovered patients, bringing the total to 5,153.
