Gov’t allows operation of provincial buses in point-to-point routes

MANILA, Philippines — The government has allowed provincial buses in point-to-point routes to resume operations in a bid to further pump life into the COVID-19 pandemic-hit economy.

According to presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, President Rodrigo Duterte and his Cabinet approved the resumption of provincial bus operations in point-to-point routes during a meeting on Monday night.

“Hintayin lang po natin ang guidelines na ilalabas ng DOTr (Department of Transportation) at LTFRB ukol dito,” Roque said.

(Let’s wait for the release of guidelines from DOTr and LTFRB regarding this.)

Public transportation has gradually reopened nationwide since the government enforced strict coronavirus lockdown measures in mid-March.
