Release of SALNs to public backed
Some allies of Speaker Lord Allan Velasco favor the release of the statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) of all lawmakers following calls that the country’s officials should lead by example by disclosing these documents to the public.
House appropriations committee chair Eric Go Yap said on Thursday he had no problem releasing his SALN to the public.
“I am willing to disclose mine,” Yap told the Inquirer.
Deputy Speaker Bienvenido Abante also said he was willing to release his SALN to the public.
“In fact, I have already submitted mine,” Abante said.
Bagong Henerasyon Rep. Bernadette Herrera-Dy, also a deputy speaker, also agreed to disclose her SALN.
