Deployment of workers to Jordan suspended
On the recommendation of the Philippine Embassy, the labor office has suspended the deployment of newly hired Filipino workers to Jordan due to the surge of COVID-19 cases in the Arab Kingdom in recent months. Philippine Overseas Employment Administration Administrator Bernard Olalia said the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (Polo) in Amman, Jordan, had put on hold processing employment contracts of new hires. He said Philippine Ambassador to Jordan Akmad Sakkah had recommended the suspension. “The verification of employment documents of new hires by the Polo in Amman, Jordan, will be temporarily suspended until further notice,” Olalia said in an advisory dated Dec. 7. —Dona Z.
