Taguig City gov’t calls for protection of seniors from COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — The Taguig City government on Thursday urged its residents to protect senior citizens from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) after two sexagenarians in the city recently tested positive for the virus.
In a statement, Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano said a 66-year-old man from Barangay Ibayo Tipas contracted the coronavirus disease and is currently admitted at the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital.
Cayetano also said the male patient was infected while overseeing UV Express units at a terminal in Pasig City.
The other COVID-19 case involved a 69-year-old man from Barangay Pinagsama, Cayetano said. The mayor said the senior citizen was infected while attending to his wife, who is confined for diabetes at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Taguig.
The local chief executive, likewise, reminded his constituents to follow health protocols this Christmas season.
“Naka-mask at face shield man ang mukha ng Pasko ngayong taon, hindi po ito hadlang para ating ipakita ang pagmamahal sa ating kapwa. Sa ating pag-iingat at pagsunod sa health protocols, ating naipapakita ang pagmamahal natin sa ating pamilya,” Cayetano said.
