MANILA, Philippines — The local government of San Juan, Batangas has ordered the closure of a resort that hosted a beach party that defied the government’s COVID-19 protocols.

A memorandum order dated Tuesday and signed by San Juan, Batangas Mayor Ildebrando Salud read that the business permit of Blue Coral Beach Resort located in Laiya Aplaya is revoked.

The beach resort made headlines after several resort visitors were caught on video partying by the beach without practicing health protocols, such as wearing face masks and face shields. A video also showed that the partygoers were not keeping their distance from one another.
The Department of Tourism also condemned the party, saying that it was “another reckless social gathering.”
