COVID cases in PH hit 438,069; Davao City tops number of new infections

MANILA, Philippines — Philippines on Saturday logged 1,733 additional coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections, bringing the total virus caseload to 438,069.

Of the newly-reported cases, the Department of Health (DOH) said Davao City topped the list of new infections in all cities and municipalities in the country. The city has 162 COVID-19 cases.

This was followed by Quezon City with 92 cases; Benguet with 80 cases; Rizal province with 70; and Laguna with 66 cases.

DOH also recorded 133 new recoveries, increasing the total recoveries with 438,069.

The health department also reported 8,526 total deaths, including 17 additional fatalities.

Meanwhile, 29,961 cases or 6.8 percent of the total COVID-19 cases nationwide are active.
