MANILA, Philippines — Cloud clusters around the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) may develop into a low pressure area (LPA), and will bring rains to the Bicol region and parts of Visayas and Mindanao, the state weather bureau said Saturday morning.

In its 5 a.m. live weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that it was currently monitoring three cloud clusters.

The first cloud cluster, weather specialist Benison Estareja said, was spotted west of Palawan, while the second one is hovering  east of Northern Luzon.

A third cloud cluster was within the boundary line of the PAR, east of the Visayas, Estareja added.

“Base po sa ating analysis, wala po sa tatlong ito ay nakikita natin na maging isang bagyo. Pero may possibility na isa or dalawa ay maging isang low-pressure area na siyang magdadala po ng pag-ulan dito sa ilang bahagi ng Bicol region, Eastern Visayas and eastern Mindanao,” the weather specialist explained.

(Based on our analysis, none of these three will develop to a tropical cyclone. But there is a possibility that one or two of these will turn to a low-pressure area that will bring rains to the Bicol region, Eastern Visayas and eastern Mindanao.)

Estareja said that the northeast monsoon or “amihan” is currently affecting Northern and Central Luzon.

Hence, cloudy skies and rains are expected in Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Cagayan and Isabela.

The “amihan” will likewise bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains to Central Luzon, the rest of the Ilocos region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, Ifugao and Benguet.
