DOJ: No retraction of testimony vs De Lima

/ 05:06 AM December 05, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday asked the Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court to cite detained Sen. Leila de Lima and her lawyer in contempt of court for claiming that state witnesses had retracted their testimony or testified that there was no evidence of wrongdoing against the senator.

Prosecutor Ramoncito Bienvenido Ocampo Jr. denied that convicted drug lord Vicente Sy retracted his testimony that he gave P500,000 to De Lima and that witnesses from the Anti-Money Laundering Council and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency testified that they found no evidence against De Lima.

Her lawyers declined to comment on the motion since they have yet to get a copy of the pleading. —MARLON RAMOS
