Mandaluyong mayor says no to reunions, out-of-town Christmas parties
MANILA, Philippines — Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos is strictly discouraging the holding of parties, reunions, and other merry-making activities during the Christmas season to ensure the safety of residents from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“The conduct of parties, get-togethers, reunions and other merry-making activities are strictly being discouraged in all public offices and agencies including those similar events guise as pool and out-of-town parties in defiance to the required social distancing and health/safety protocols,” said Abalos’ memorandum dated Dec. 2.

Abalos said the city government will be imposing sanctions on those who will not follow the memorandum.
“Adherence to this memorandum is hereby enforced and shall be fully implemented and strictly monitored by the department heads and heads of offices. Violators and non-compliance shall be dealt with,” read the memorandum.
Mandaluyong has logged a total of 5,924 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 185 deaths and 5,611 recoveries.
