Quezon’s largest agricultural trading post to be constructed in 2021

MANILA, Philippines — The construction of P100-M Sariaya Agricultural Trading Center and Facilities (SATCF), the largest agricultural trading post in Quezon province, is expected to start early next year, Quezon Rep. David “Jayjay” Suarez said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Suarez said the trading post was expected to “help the national government deal with losses brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“Sariaya will play a very important role in our development,“ Suarez said, referring to his province.

The trading post, he added, will stimulate agricultural productivity through the interaction of sectors not only in Quezon itself but also in other provinces in the Calabarzon Region and in nearby areas like Metro Manila and Benguet.

According to Suarez, the trading post will become the food hub of Southern Luzon because of “connecting networks such as the newly-constructed 13.9-kilometer concrete road of four Barangays in Sariaya through the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), which is also poised to be connected to the aqua-fisheries industry.”

Agriculture Secretary William Dar joined Suarez in the groundbreaking of the trading post on Monday in Sampaloc 2 in Sariaya.
