PH closes November with COVID-19 cases breaching 431,000 mark

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines closed the month of November with over 431,000 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, as the Department of Health (DOH) reported Monday an additional 1,773 cases.

In its November 30 bulletin, DOH said there are now 431,630 COVID-19 cases in the country, of which 24,580 are considered active.

Of the 1,773 new cases, DOH said 104 came from Rizal, 99 came from Cavite, 88 from Negros Occidental, 79 from Davao City, and 72 from Laguna.

Further, the DOH recorded 44 new recoveries bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 398,658 while death toll is now at 8,392 after 19 patients succumbed from the disease.

The coronavirus disease outbreak first emerged in Wuhan City, Hubei province of China in late December last year.

COVID-19 causes mild or moderate symptoms such as fever and cough for most people. However, older adults and people with underlying health issues may experience more serious illnesses including pneumonia and death.
