Magnitude 4.8 earthquake strikes Masbate
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck Cataingan, Masbate on Monday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Information from Phivolcs’ website showed that the earthquake struck 11 kilometers southeast of Cataingan at 4:23 a.m.
The quake of tectonic origin had a depth of focus of 16 kilometers.
Intensity III was recorded in Masbate City, while Intensity II was reported in Irosin and Magallanes, Sorsogon.
Meanwhile, instrumental intensity III was also recorded in Masbate City, II in Legaspi City, and I in Naval, Biliran; Palo, Leyte and Roxas City.
